Kalametiya is a very picturesque place and you can find yourself quite a few interesting things to do. Start your day with a jog on a deserted beach or join local fishermen in helping them pull the net out of the ocean. As a reward, you will receive a portion of the catch and our chef will cook it for you for dinner!
There is a saying that the best way to explore a place is on two wheels and that holds true with the rural life in this region as well. So take one of our free bycicles and go ahead! Ride along the streets of Kalametiya, a place where most of the people are engaged in fisheries. Get a closer look at the interesting daily routines of villagers, visit local temple and observe one of the lagoons.

Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary
#1 BIRD WATHING BOAT TOUR IN SRI LANKA
Kalametiya bird sanctuary just 1.5 Km away from Lankavatara hotel. It is a one of oldest and main bird sanctuary in Sri Lanka. In 1938 Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary was declared a wildlife sanctuary. Today this is a main bird watching site in Srilanka.
This sanctuary include Kalametiya mangrove lagoon and very close to Kalametiya beach. There are over 150 species of birds in Kalametiya bird sanctuary including 54 migratory birds. Additionally about 20 species of mammals, about 41 species of fish and 38 species of reptiles live in Kalametiya bird sanctuary. This is a haven for weaver birds. There are many weaver bird nest in the bird sanctuary.

FOR SPECIAL MOMENTS
We would be happy to arrange for you Bird Watching tour in the sanctuary. The best times for start the are 6am in the morning and 3.30 pm in the evening. The boat tour in 2.5 hour long. This is not only a bird watching tour. You can climb Taragala Rock View Point middle in the bird sanctuary and jungle walking.

Taragala Rock View Point
MAGNETIC VIEWS
Enjoy stunning views of the Kalametia Bird Sanctuary Lagoon and the Indian Ocean at the top of Taragala Rock. The walk from the hotel to the rock will take about 20 minutes, even children and elderly people can climb it. The best time to visit is morning and evening - you can meet the sunrise or spend the sunset in this corner of untouched nature.

CALM WATERS
Just 5 minutes away from the hotel by tuk-tuk or 20 minutes by foot you can find calm and beautiful Kalametiya harbour beach. Here you can swim at any time even with small children as the beach is protected by breakwater.

We are always glad to see guests with children in our hotel and we have everything you need to make your family vacation comfortable and interesting! The most comfortable room when you travel with kids will be Ocean View Suite, Partial Ocean View Suite or a Villa apartment.
Specious Partial Ocean or Ocean View Suites located on the ground or up floor and have large corner sofa and extra bed for one or two kids. If your children are still too small, we advise you to choose a room on the ground floor, based on the experience of our guests, this is the most comfortable option in this case.
Villa apartments are available with 1 or 2 bedrooms, have a living room and equipped kitchen to ensure the most comfortable stay. Two-bedroom apartment located on the up floor. One-bedroom apartment located on the ground floor.
